Curriculum

The school is following the national curriculum in English, Mathematics, Science, Design Technology, History, Geography, Music, PE, Art and IT.

These subject areas are covered in the main by a cross curricular approach throughout the school providing the basis for planning the children's learning, which incorporates a wide range of learning opportunities designed to extend academic achievement and to foster individual development in each child. Thus the children are helped to extend their knowledge of themselves and the world in which they live.

The topics are planned across each year group and are relevant to the children in that class. Careful assessment and record keeping allow for continuity and progression in learning with reinforcement where necessary.

At the end of Year 2 the children participate in national testing (SATs) and are assessed in each curriculum area through teacher assessment.

The results are expressed as a percentage and rounded to the nearest whole figure.
